SHAWN EVANS
Presenting a solo exhibition of new work by Canadian artist Shawn Evans. Emerging from his early influences in abstract expressionism, Evans found his own abstraction in architecture and the landscape of cities. Working from his collection of personal photographs, his paintings capture the complexities of urban spaces combined with the shifting perspectives of eroding memory.
Born and raised in Regina, Saskatchewan, Shawn Evans moved to Calgary to attend the Alberta College of Art and Design. Since graduating in 2009, he has committed himself to a disciplined studio practice. His work is in the permanent collections of various private and public institutes including the collection of Jim and Susan Hill (The Esker Foundation). He currently lives and works in Toronto, Ontario.
