The word “dénouement” comes from French and literally means “unknotting.” A more faithful translation would be “outcome,” “resolution,” or “finale.”

It is with mixed emotions that VIVIANEART announces “dénouement,” our final exhibition.

Opening a Calgary gallery in 2013 and building it to what it is today has been an incredible and positive journey. I am proud to look back on what we have accomplished together in such a challenging time. In addition to mounting 80 exhibitions, we presented at a total of 29 art fairs in Miami, New York, Seattle, Toronto, and Montreal.

I would like to acknowledge the contribution of the gallery’s three skilled and loyal directors, Tara Westermann, Jenna Klein-Waller, and Meeka Sato, as well as a handful of wonderful part-time gallery staff who have brought their talents and energy over the years. In addition, we humbly thank the community of supporters, collectors, and artists who have walked through our doors.

I am excited for what the future holds and will take on my new challenges with the same passion and dedication that has defined VIVIANEART.

“dénouement” is a group exhibition which aims to honor and celebrate the talents of the incredible artists we have worked with and to revel in the power of their combined voices. Included are works by artists:
