Scott Everingham
Scott Everingham’s latest series of paintings, ‘Post-Forest’, explores themes of loss and regrowth. Reflecting on forests as an underlying subject, he creates invented spaces that are an abstraction of these environments. His use of gesture and color references both natural and artificial elements such as branches, deep greenery, and rust. Either in the process of deconstruction or regeneration, Everingham considers how an experience of space can be defined by the power of what isn’t there.
Everingham holds a BFA from the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design and an MFA from the University of Waterloo, ON. His work has been exhibited throughout Canada and internationally in the United States, Denmark, England, and the Netherlands. He is represented in numerous public, private, and corporate collections including the Royal Bank of Canada, The Art Gallery of Nova Scotia, and Nordstrom US/Canada among others. In addition to his painting practice, Everingham is a painting instructor at the Ontario College of Art and Design in Toronto, ON, where he currently lives and works.
